Merchant's Gate Park Entrance

The southwest corner of Central Park is anchored by Merchants’ Gate at Columbus Circle, one of the busiest entrances to Central Park. The 57-foot National Monument, honors the American sailors lost when the Navy vessel, the U.S.S. Maine, exploded in 1898 and sank in Havana harbor in Cuba.
